The intestine is the focus of alternative medical literature and yes – it does indeed play an important role. However, for many people this is not enough and it is too short-sighted to treat only the intestines for intestinal complaints. Because in very few cases does the cause lie where it becomes apparent.
The stomach – the real culprit
If there are problems in the gut or microbiome, these usually come from the stomach. This is because the stomach is responsible for the preparatory work. If the stomach does not do its job, the food arrives in the intestine insufficiently predigested or fermented. This can, for example, lead to bacterial colonization of the intestines, cause flatulence, diarrhea or constipation.
Why intestinal cleansing makes no sense
As long as the stomach continues to send too little predigested or fermented food into the intestine, any intestinal cleansing will only have temporary effects. Intestinal cleansing only really makes sense once the problems in the stomach have been resolved. Otherwise, there is a high probability that recolonization will occur again and again. Depending on the existing reserves in the body, the results of an intestinal cleanse can last longer or shorter.
Heart stumbling through the stomach
However, stomach problems can also manifest themselves in other parts of the body than the intestines. For example on the heart. This is because the stomach sits below the diaphragm. If the stomach has problems, fermentation gases can form. These inflate the stomach, push the diaphragm upwards and thus squeeze the heart. At this moment, you can perceive this as a stumbling heart. In some people, the symptoms are so pronounced that it almost feels like a heart attack, with shortness of breath and the like. The symptoms are then often mistaken for a panic attack. Especially if the cardiologist reveals a healthy heart. In most people, the heart is actually healthy, because as soon as the compression caused by the stomach is over, the heart can relax again.
